The Donation Box for 8-31 ~ Sometimes Prompting is Necessary
I feel like we’re still playing catch-up since school started and my dining area looks like it threw up groceries. I know there is much more to put in the donation box for 8-31 but organizing the pile is just one more thing on my already huge to do list with things like hair cuts, obtaining a trombone (Yes, our little guy has decided to join band and play an instrument that is almost larger than he is!) and changing out batteries in the alarm system. I did have some items in the box from one day where I attempted to organize.. briefly.
I had thought about (more like decided on) skipping the donation box for 8-31 but then after spotting a reader comment on another post, the guilt set in and I found a small burst of motivated energy. All the comment said was that they looked forward to seeing the donation box and that’s all it took… we managed a small one. (Thanks Kamaya, for the nudge to help keep us on track!)
One thing I wanted to point out that just takes a second of your time. Target is donating $5 Million to schools in their #GiveWithTarget program. If you go to the Target Facebook page, you can submit the school of your choice. Once a school gets 25 votes they will receive $25 plus a $1 for each additional vote!
Here’s what was in The Donation Box for this week..
9 Gillette Shaving Cream
4 Kool Aid Canisters
1 Colgate Mouthwash
1 Training pants 2pk
10 Pens 10pk
2 Scissors (Children’s 2pk)
|If you’re new and/or not familiar with what The Donation Box is, this is a box we keep in a corner of our house that we add items to all week for a Saturday morning delivery to the local Co-op Ministries . Since we’ve been couponing, we have grown a nice stockpile of items so now we try to put some aside and do our small part to help others. (You can view our other delivery posts here ). Other than a little extra time, there is no reason for us to pass up a free or ridiculously cheap deal… we know someone needs those items! Our boxes usually include a combination of things we purchased the current week and items from our stockpile that we have overstocked. We hope we inspire others to do the same! Whether it’s a donation of money, time, or items.. it all matters to someone!|
