The Donation Box for 12-8-14
We did a quick gathering of these refrigerated items for The Donation Box for 12-8-14 while I was thinking about it. We kept forgetting to add these to the previous donations since they were in the fridge.. always out of site when gathering the donation items for delivery. It’s small but I decided we better just do it while it was on my mind. There is no way I can get my family to drink the Sambazon. It seems they always open one to drink but leave most of it to get dumped out. I hate waste! I feel better donating those to people who want and need them. As far as the Starbuck drinks go, I don’t dare allow my youngest to get near them. In fact, anything advertising “energy” needs to be kept from him. When he drinks them it’s ME that gets a headache!
We’re counting down to our annual trip to Costa Rica (which I’m so looking forward to). I’m finding that I’m running out of time for all the things on my “to do” list. I think I’m going to have to take pictures as I gather items and post them later on, so there may be some dates that don’t match up for the rest of this month. I’d rather get the donations out even if I don’t have time right now to post on that day.
To find local organizations to donate food and personal items, search Feeding America or Food Pantries. You can also inquire at local churches. They can usually suggest a local organization or they may have a food pantry of their own. If you choose to donate money to charitable causes, be sure to check out the organization and donate by going directly to the website. Please don’t click on solicitation links in your email, and remember that they never need your social security number or bank routing info! Sadly, there will always be people out there taking advantage of other’s generosity… especially during the holiday months!
Here’s what was in The Donation Box for 12-8-14
6 Sambazon Smoothies
3 Starbucks Refreshers
2 Vitamin Water
|If you’re not familiar with what The Donation Box is, this is a box we keep in a corner of our house that we add items to for (normally) a Saturday morning delivery to the local Co-op Ministries . Since we’ve been couponing, we have grown a nice stockpile of items so now we try to put some aside and do our small part to help others. (You can view our other delivery posts here). Other than a little extra time, there is no reason for us to pass up a free or ridiculously cheap deal… we know someone needs those items! Our boxes usually include a combination of things we purchased the current week and items from our stockpile that we have overstocked. We hope we inspire others to do the same! Whether it’s a donation of money, time, or items.. it all matters to someone!|
