Crispy and Delicious Pizza Dough Garlic Rolls

If you love garlic rolls as much as we do you are going to love these easy to make Pizza Dough Garlic Rolls. It is worth the little bit of time and effort it takes to make this recipe . I have never found any frozen or ready made garlic rolls anywhere that compare to making these at home from fresh pizza dough and a few other inexpensive ingredients that I usually keep in the pantry. They go great with your favorite Italian meals, such as spaghetti, baked ziti, or lasagna. These garlic rolls are crispy and bursting with flavor. I have tried many recipes over the years to get one we really liked without much luck. The secret I was missing was making them with pizza dough to get that wonderful crispy outside crust.

You don’t have to use homemade dough for these Pizza Dough Garlic Rolls. You can purchase pizza dough from the bakery department at your grocery store or  your local bakery at a pretty reasonable price.  I like to make my own pizza dough using the simple bread machine recipe I have posted below. My bread machine is one of my favorite appliances. I have an Oster bread machine that I love and have even learned to use it to make homemade jams and sauces.

Bet you can’t eat just one! They are just too aromatic and dripping with flavor to resist, especially when eaten as a snack dipped in marinara sauce. We also like to make just the sauce portion of the this recipe to use as a dip with a baguette.  This recipe is very versatile so don’t be afraid to have a little fun by playing around with modifications to make it your own. You can add a little fresh chopped parsley or you can use a little more or less oil or  add more or less garlic to obtain the intensity you like best.

To make Pizza Dough Garlic Rolls you  will need these ingredients :

1 1/2 pounds pizza dough, store bought or homemade
4 Tablespoons Olive oil
2 Tablespoons melted butter
2-4 garlic cloves minced, depends on your taste
A shake or two of oregano to taste
Garlic salt to taste
Grated Parmesan cheese to taste
Cooking Spray

  •  Mix the olive oil, butter, minced garlic and oregano in an oven proof glass dish large enough to hold about a dozen rolls. I use my old square Corning Ware dish but a glass rectangle 13 x 9 baking dish will work too.
  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees. While oven is heating place the dish with olive oil mixture inside just long enough to melt the butter.
  • Take out and set aside so the flavors can blend together.

  • Place the garlic knots on an 12 x 15 baking that has been lined with foil and sprayed with cooking spray.
  • Lightly spray top of rolls with cooking spray.
