The Donation Box 3/16/13

The Donation Box this week looks like a medical supply list!

After gathering together the donation box items for the picture, I realized it looks like I’m concentrating on health issues this week.  OK.. so the Apple Jacks and jelly beans don’t really fit but it would make a great game of “find what doesn’t belong”!

Easter eggingAs long as we’re on a charitable topic, I want to share an amazing idea that my friend at Year-Round Giving  posted about last week.  I absolutely love her Easter Egging a House post and thought this was the perfect idea for a person, group, or community to help a family or families in need.  No, I’m NOT talking about what we all think of  from the teenage delinquent days of the past (other people, not me of course!). If I have peeked your interest then you can read about it here.  There’s also a cute little sign and a fun little idea along these lines that Tina and Mother’s Niche has shared!

egg donation  One last thing I want to add… if you donate to a foodbank, this is a great time of year to donate eggs so check with your organization and see if they accept them!

There’s an egg coupon to help cut the cost of any donation purchases!

Here’s what was in The Donation Box for this week..

Donation Box 5 Halls Throat Drops
1 Ricola Cough Drops
2 Apple Jacks Cereal
2 Planters Peanuts Jar
1 Edge Shaving Gel
1 Publix Salad Dressing
2 Blue Diamond Almonds
1 Jelly Beans
1 Pro B
4 Allegra Allergy
3 Advil Pain Reliever
1 Contour Next Glucose Monitor
If you’re new and/or not familiar with what our Donation box is, this is a box we keep in a corner of our house that we add items to all week for a Saturday morning delivery to the local Co-op Ministries . Since we’ve been couponing, we’ve grown a nice stockpile of items so now we try to put some aside and do our small part to help others. (You can view our other delivery posts here ).  Other than a little extra time, there is no reason for us to pass up a free or ridiculously cheap deal… we know someone needs them! Our boxes usually include a combination of things we purchased the current week and those items we realize we have too much of!

Do you do something similar? We’d love to read about it in the comments section!

I love how your family pays it forward each week. It feels so good to give back. I’m so bummed that I missed out on the egg coupon. Have a great weekend!

My clients give me clothes and my husband ships them to his cousins in Cameroon. My clients are now giving too much so my husband has been giving clothes to other friends to ship back to their countries. It’s expensive about 500 dollars to ship 4 boxes. Thank goodness, his cousin has a contact at the post office because if you just shipped them, they would never arrive but would be stolen at the post office.

I love that you do so much donating. I’m on a very limited budget, but I donate a dollar here and there. One of my favorite shows to watch is Ellen and one of the reasons is because she donates SO much to people. She has such a kind giving personality. I have medical issues, but when I am able to I want to volunteer at a donation center.

Ellen is one of my favorite celebrates .. she is VERY generous and seems very genuine. I hope you get to volunteer soon, Stacy!
