Looking for more ways to help Moore? Box Tops and book donations for schools!
Last week I posted several ways to help Moore, Oklahoma after the devastating EF5 tornado plowed through on May 20, 2013. Since then, I have had several inquiries on how to help the schools and children specifically.
As most of you know, deadly tornadoes hit Moore, OK on May 20th, resulting in the deaths of at least 24 people including 7 children from Plaza Towers Elementary School. Both Briarwood Elementary and Plaza Towers Elementary schools were destroyed and are in need of supplies and rebuilding. Below are a few more ways to help Moore by helping support the schools.
Box Tops For Education – A great way to help the elementary schools of Moore is to send your Box Tops for Education to them. I have contacted both schools’ PTAs and the addresses for where to send your box tops are listed below. Of course it’s not mandatory, but it would be very helpful if you could have them cut and counted in a labeled baggie so they know how many you are sending. This would cut down on the time it takes them to coordinate. If you are sending very large quantities, bundling them in bags of 50 if possible would be helpful!

Moore Books for Moore Kids – Book drive for Plaza Towers & Briarwood Elementary whose classrooms and libraries were destroyed by the tornado on May 20th, 2013. The are collecting new and gently used books and monetary donations to rebuild elementary teachers’ classrooms and libraries. Visit Moore Books for Moore Kids Facebook page. Also, if you are in Georgia, there are a number of drop off sites being created. You can visit the Georgia Book Drive for Oklahoma Facebook page for more information. If you are involved in other City/State drop off locations in co-ordination with this program, feel free to add a comment!

These funds will help remove the obstacles that stand in the way of teachers being able to teach and children being able to learn by providing them the basic educational materials and support they need. This could include, but not be limited to, things such as food, clothing, shelter, after school care, school supplies, classroom materials and student transportation to and from school related events.
Please help Moore if you can! I’ve listed several ways to help the elementary schools including an easy box top donation that shouldn’t cost you anything but postage. If a more general approach to helping the town is what you were looking for then you can take a look at the previous post I did listing contacts to donate to such as the Red Cross. There are so many ways to help… let’s all pick one!
